Henna Tomperi

I have 30 years of experience in leadership and competence development, leading change and strengthening the everyday leadership skills of team leaders.

Most of my time has been spent working for large Finland-based international companies, where my role has been to lead people, leadership and organisational development and resourcing activities globally. During these years I lived and worked in the UK for four years. Based on this experience, I am fluent in coaching and training in both Finnish and English – and I particularly enjoy working with multicultural teams and groups.

I am also familiar with public sector organisations. I worked for Aalto University for four years just after the three universities were merged into a new university. My main task was to support the building of a new, shared leadership culture and the implementation of shared ways of developing competencies and leadership.

For the last ten years I have been working with a variety of organisations as a coach and trainer for AS3 Finland. In addition to my coaching role, I started working as a partner in 2019, which gave me excellent experience in managing and leading a smaller company.

From the beginning of 2026, I work as a full-time coach through my own company, Essense Oy.

As a developer and coach, I am naturally also interested in continuous self-development. One important goal – actually a personal dream – for me was to write a doctoral thesis – I wanted to have a strong scientific understanding of leadership as a basis for practical development work. I completed my PhD in Economics at the University of Jyväskylä at the turn of 2014-2015.

I trained as a coach in 2009 and as a team coach in 2022. I am certified as an ICF PCC-level coach in 2020. In 2024 I completed the new ICCF team coaching certification (ACTC).
